The Coalition for Women’s Brain Health (CWBH) is pleased to spotlight a recent article by Steering Committee member Dr. Jessica Caldwell, published in Menopause, the journal of The Menopause Society. In Brain and Cognitive Health at Midlife, Dr. Caldwell explores the cognitive changes many women experience during midlife and the menopause transition, including the commonly reported experience of “brain fog.” The article highlights how hormonal changes, sleep disruption, stress, caregiving responsibilities, and other health factors can influence cognitive health during midlife.
For CWBH, this work reinforces the importance of advancing awareness and research focused on the unique factors that affect women’s brain health across the lifespan. Understanding how life-stage transitions such as menopause influence cognition is critical to ensuring women receive the information, support, and care needed to optimize brain health and healthy aging.
